Is there anything I can do about protein/peptide carryover?

One can use an optimized needle wash solvent of trifluoroethanol (TFE) or 20% isopropanol to prevent carryover of proteins/peptides. This can be especially critical for more sensitive methods such as LC/MS and nano-LC applications.

Other causes of protein/peptide carryover include improper tubing connections and scratches in the rotor valve. These should be investigated as well.
