SFC Basics Overview
HPLC Column Web Tool
Normal Phase is used to separate hydrophobic compounds and matrices that are retained too strongly by reversed phase and have minimal solubility in aqueous mobile phases.
Chiral supercritical fluid chromatography can be used to efficiently separate and purify enantiomers. SFC is similar to normal phase chromatography but instead incorporates pressurized carbon dioxide as the main component of the mobile phase. Since supercritical fluids are close to the critical point, small changes in temperature and pressure will cause large changes in density. These changes can have dramatic effects in selectivity and separation for chiral compounds.

Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) is predominately used for low to moderate molecular weight compounds and can provide significant advantages in selectivity since mobile phase density directly impacts the affinity of the mobile phase for target analytes.
We offer a full line of unique selectivities designed to offer very different interactions with analytes under supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) conditions.

Preparative supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) offers significant advantages in sample recovery, faster and easier fraction collection due to reduced sample volume, and cost reduction in the use of organic solvents. Preparative SFC is becoming more popular for chiral purification as well as achiral small molecule purification.
We provide a full suite of chiral and achiral axial-packed preparative SFC columns available in 21.2 mm, 30 mm and 50 mm IDs for small to medium scale preparative supercritical fluid chromatography.
Available in over 40 unique achiral and chiral selectivities, Axia PREP LC columns offer:
